Mansfield Palace Theatre Community Production
It's that time again when the Mansfield Palace Theatre start to plan for the annual Community Theatre production, and 2008 promises to be a magnificent one!
The Beaux’ Stratagem by George Farquhar
Adapted and Directed by Adam Pownall
Beaux; plural of Beau (pronounced BOZE): A man who gives excessive attention to dress, appearance and social etiquette.
Stratagem; (pronounced STRA-TUH-GEM): A trick or scheme designed to outwit an enemy or obtain an advantage.
Two fashionable beaux; Archer and Aimwell, have fallen on hard times spending their fortune on gambling and drinking. They plan to travel through small towns, entrap young heiresses, steal their money and move on. Their adventures in a quick twenty-four hours include flirting with the bar maid, making love to the wives and heiresses, fighting off the highwaymen and exposing the French. This is Farquhar’s most beloved play, which dances between the comedy of situation, wit and manners.
It's all a fun, uproarious evening of comedy and mayhem.
We need men!
As always we are looking to recruit new members. This year’s play has many fantastic parts for both sexes and our current group is dominated by female members so we are looking especially for new male members
There will be a meeting on Monday 9th June,
If you know any other theatre enthusiasts that may like to join the Community Theatre feel free to bring them along to the evening. So please do pass on the launch details to anyone you feel is a secret thespian.
